The dates for the mega auction of the Indian Premier League 2022 season have been announced by the BCCI. According to the reports, the IPL mega auction will be held in Bangalore on 12th and 13th February 2022. Still, the official statement from the Indian Board, BCCI, is awaited. But the BCCI officials have contacted the owners of each IPL team and informed them about this date.
The mega auction will take place during a One Day International game between India and the West Indies. The BCCI members spoke about this clash, and they have said that the mega auction will go on despite the ODI clash between these two teams. West Indies will tour India in 2022 and play the second ODI match in Kolkata on 12th February 2022.
The mega auctions will be conducted on two separate days, and the BCCI members have clarified that the mega auctions will go on for two days. Now the BCCI is awaiting a response from the Star Sports Networks, the official broadcasters of the events in India, and the Indian Premier League. But the Star Sports India Networks will also cover the ODIs between India and West Indies.
So it would be interesting to see the response of the Star Sports India Network. The BCCI has already informed the two dates of the mega auction to their official channel broadcasting channels.
BCCI, Indian Board, has also written to the international teams and the state teams to send the players who want to take part in the mega auctions of the IPL. The deadline to send the names of the players is 17th January 2022.
In 2022, the Indian Premier League will have ten teams instead of just eight franchises. Ahmedabad and Lucknow are the two new franchises taking part in this cash-rich league tournament. We expect more than a thousand players to be in the mega auctions, and between 200 to 250 players will go under the hammer.
The BCCI will give a regular briefing of the mega auction for the ten franchises of this tournament. This briefing is a normal process before every Indian Premier League auction. So the Indian Board wants the franchise members to be present in Bangalore on 11th February 2022.
Some websites also reported that they will hold the mega auctions on 10th and 13th February 2022. Keeping the second ODI between India and West Indies in mind, that was said. To avoid the clash of these dates, 12 and 13th, February 2022 are now fixed for the mega auctions event.
