Andy Flower to Be the Head Coach and Gautam Gambhir to Be a Mentor for the New Looked Lucknow Franchise in IPL 2022 Season

The Zimbabwean great, Andy Flower, is conformed of getting the role of a head coach in the new franchise of the Indian Premier League, Lucknow. The franchise made its announcement yesterday after getting permission from the Indian Board, BCCI. The Indian Board had made some rules which still exist.

The rule which BCCI made says that the new franchise teams should not make any declarations. The owner of Lucknow Franchise, Sanjay Goenka, said that the team and the staff of Lucknow respect Andy Flower for his contribution to the cricket field. Flower has left his mark in International Cricket history as a player and coach. He hopes that Andy and the franchise work with a vision, and they hope that the Zimbabwean great add value to their team.

The ex Zimbabwe player, Andy Flower, worked previously with the PKBS – Punjab Kings Franchise until the IPL 2021 season, and his inclusion in the Lucknow franchise as the head coach is expected to be expected one.  The Lucknow franchise team will also add KL Rahul as their captain for this IPL 2022.

Andy Flower said he is excited and honored to be a part of this new franchise team Lucknow. Flower toured India in 1993, and since then, he was loved coming here for playing and coaching. He said that that the passion for cricket in India is so unreal. He will be looking forward to working with the Lucknow team and Dr. Gonenka. Flower wants this relationship with the Lucknow franchise as successful and meaningful by all means. Andy will visit the team in Uttar Pradesh when he comes to India in New Year.

The new franchise teams should not make any formal announcements or signing the players as per the rule made by the BCCI. They can make such announcements only if they go ahead with their decisions. The BCCI has made this rule keeping in mind the second new team Ahmedabad, owned by the CVC Sports.

The CVC Sports is an American Venture capitalist firm that will own the Ahmedabad franchise. But the BCCI hasn’t formally cleared the team owners, and they have said they will need some more time. The Lucknow team is owned by the RPSG group, which also owned the Pune Supergiants team in the IPL 2016 and 2017 seasons.

The Lucknow Franchise team is a part of seven million dollars. When they were banned for those two seasons, the Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions team played in place of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.

Gautam Gambhir to mentor the Luckow Franchise

Gautam Gambhir, the man who helped India to win the World T20 in 2007 and ICC World Cup in 2011 at home, will be the mentor of the new IPL Franchise Lucknow. Gauti had also captained the KKR – Kolkata Knight Riders team in their two title wins in IPL 2012 and 2014.

This news is a conformed through many websites, and DR. Goenka also said that yes, they have roped in Gautam Gambhir in their support staff as the mentor of this Lucknow Franchise. The RPSC has brought this franchise for whopping 7090 crores Indian Rupees. Now they have Andy Flower as the head coach and Gautam Gambhir as their mentor in the coaching setup.

Gambhir was the two-time title-winning skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders, and he has captained the DC – Delhi Capitals franchise. Dr. Goneka and Gauti have been good friends, and their cricketing association was planned for a long time, and with Gauti, the former Indian wicketkeeper and the teammate of Gambhir, Vijay Dhaiya, will also join this new franchise, Lucknow.

Vijay Dahiya has played with Gautam Gambhir in the Delhi Capitals team and Kolkata Knight Riders side. Gambhir and Goenka were the ones who have prepared this Lucknow, and now Vijay Dahiya is also set to join this franchise as the assistant coach. Currently, Vijay Dahiya is coaching his state team of Uttar Pradesh. 

The franchise owner, Goenka, has welcomed his friend Gautam Gambhir to this new venture, and Goenka also said that he is very impressed by the records held by this Indian opener for India in International cricket. Goenka is also impressed and respects Gautam Gambhir’s cricketing mind, and he is looking forward to working with this Indian cricketer.

In reply, Gautam Gambhir said that he is thankful to Dr. Goneka and the RPSG Group for giving him the wonderful opportunity to work with them in the Lucknow Franchise team. Gauti still has the hunger to win the IPL title, and he wants to leave the legacy behind. He would contest for the spirit and soul of Uttar Pradesh in that Lucknow franchise dressing room. 

Currently, Gautam Gambhir is the leader of the BJP Party, and he has played for nine years for the national side. Gambhir has represented the country for 147 fifty overs games, 58 Test matches, and 37 T20I games. He has also played the cash-rich league tournament, the IPL, for ten seasons. Gauti had captained the Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Kight Riders sides and played 154 IPL games in all.
