South Africa Vs India – 1st Test Match, Head to Head, Live Streaming Details, Channel List, and Timing

India will take on South Africa for the three-match Test series. The first Test match will be played at Supersports Park in Centurion. This match will be the Boxing Day test match, and it starts from Sunday, 26th December 2021 to Thursday, 30th December 2021. India has never won a Test series in South Africa, and this is a golden chance for Virat and Co to create a history in the Proteas Nation.

The tourists will miss key players like Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Shubman Gill. These three players will miss the entire Test series against South Africa due to injury. But India has Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Chsteshwar Pujara, KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Shami in their squad. These players are good enough to deliver for the team in South Africa.

The batting will test the Indian players in this three-match Test series.  India needs runs from their top five players. The pace bowling is in good hands, and they are in decent form to trouble the South African batters. But the spin department will be a concern for India.

The Indian team is considered as the spin heavy team. The absence of Jadeja is a huge blow as the absence of Rohit. Ashwin and Jayant will be the spin duos if in case, India decides to play with two spinners. India needs to play Shardul Thakur in their playing XI for the first test match on Sunday. Thakur adds depth in the batting, and he has been good as the pace bowler.

On the other hand, South Africa will aim to be good at home. The Proteas haven’t lost any Test series against India at home. But they will miss Anrich Nortje for the entire three-match series and Quinton De Kock for the last two Test matches of the three-match series. The replacement of Nortje hasn’t been announced. But the home side has quality players, and they will thrive in the home conditions.

SA Vs IND Head to Head Matches –

South Africa and India have played 39 matches in the Test format. India has won 14, South Africa has won 15 Test matches, while ten test matches have ended in a draw. But India’s record hasn’t been competitive in the Proteas Nation. India has just won three Test matches out of 20 matches, and ten Test matches have been drawn.

India is yet to win matches in Cape Town’s Newlands Stadium and Supersports Park Stadium in Centurion. The visitors have played two matches at Centurion, and they have lost both. At Cape Town, India needs to open their account. They have played five matches. But haven’t won a single game in Newlands Stadium.

The Wanders Stadium at Johannesburg is where India has not lost any Test match. From the three-Test wins in South Africa, India has won two matches at the Wanders and one at Durban in 2011. In five matches played at Johannesburg, India has won two matches and drawn five Tests. The second Test match will be played at this venue. So it would be interesting to see whether India keeps their winning track intact at their fortress in South Africa.
